DESCRIPTION:

The York crack tester is a portable electromagnetic yoke used for non-destructive testing (NDT) by the magnetic particle inspection (MPI) method. It is designed to detect surface and near-surface cracks, seams, laps, weld defects, and other discontinuities in ferromagnetic materials such as steel and iron. The unit generates a strong magnetic field between adjustable poles, causing magnetic particles or fluorescent ink to gather at defect locations for clear visual identification. It is widely used in welding, fabrication, mining, automotive, shipbuilding, pressure vessels, and structural steel inspection. The compact handheld design allows fast on-site inspection of welds, pipes, castings, shafts, and machinery components. Typical features include adjustable legs for different geometries, high magnetic lifting power, rugged industrial construction.
