Cold galvanising primer Omega Rustblock 1 Litre 

DESCRIPTION:

Omega rustblock cold gal is a zinc-rich, cold galvanising primer for long-term, extra heavy-duty corrosion protection. Designed to prevent corrosion through galvanic protection by forming a protection barrier, encapsulates the metal in a zinc film. Ideal for use on clean, rust-free steel in highly corrosive environments such as coastal regions. For use on all structural steelwork. Self-sacrificing the omega rustblock cold gal will react on ferrous metals to replace damaged surfaces and provide a protective barrier. Suitable for interior and exterior applications.

Exterior and interior applications. Recommended as a primer for structural steel tanks, bridges, cranes, wharves, and installation equipment in industrial and marine environments. TECHNICAL DATA:

METHOD OF APPLICATION:

Brush, spray, or roller. Please use the method best suited to your requirement and skill. Avoid over-brushing as the Rustblock cold gal is quick drying. For spray applications, thin with up to 10% with omega mineral turp.

SURFACE PREPARATION:

Mild steel, remove all mill scale and rust by soft blast cleaning. Where shot blast cleaning is not possible, use suitable abrasive power tools to clean the surface. Remove all traces of dirt, dust, grease, and all contamination from the surface before application of RustBlock Cold Gal. Prepare and coat section by section to achieve the best results. Surface is to be coated immediately after preparation.
Note: Cooler temperature, higher film thickness, or higher humidity conditions will lead to longer drying times. Do not apply when the surface temperature is below 10 °C or above 35 °C

APPLICATION:

Stir contents thoroughly using a flat stirrer before and during use. Apply one coat evenly by brush, roller, or spray, after proper surface preparation. Avoid rustblock cold gal to dry for at least 16 hours before application of undercoat and finishing product.
Note: For best results, prepare, prime, and finish section by section to avoid prolonged exposure to the elements.

COATING MAINTENANCE:

Washing the painted surface periodically will maintain the look of a newly painted surface longer. Clean the surface with a diluted sugar soap or a mild detergent and rinse well with clean water. Do not use scouring pads, abrasive brushes, high-pressure washing or solvent to clean the painted surface. These will damage the paint film and cause premature failure of the coating.

FLAMMABILITY AND TRANSPORT:

• Highly flammable, dangerous goods class 3.2, flash point 32 °C, UN 1263, PG III.
• Keep away from heat and flame, eliminate any source of ignition.
• Soak all used cloths and rags immediately in water to prevent self-ignition.
• Ensure the container is upright with the lid secure.
• Ensure the container is secured in the vehicle for transport.

SAFETY & PRECAUTIONS:

• Do not apply when the surface temperature is below 10 °C or over 35 °C.
• Do not apply in environments of high humidity/moisture, or if pending rain is a possibility.
• Apply in calm, fine weather conditions and only during daylight hours.
• Cease painting 2 hours before sunset or if weather changes are forecast.
• Use only the recommended thinner for dilution and cleaning.
• Check the paint colour against the colour chart/standard before application.
• Provide adequate ventilation during use.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• Avoid exposure of the new paint film to steam for 48 hours and to washing or scrubbing for 7 days.
• Check cross cut adhesion test of the old coating before repainting.
• Apply a test sample for compatibility of this product over a small test area.
